Q: How do I sign-up for the JobMail?
A: Click here to subscribe / change preferences
/ unsubscribe from the JobMail.

2. Applying for a job
Q: How do I get a password?
A: All job seekers must create a resume to receive a password. Click here to start creating your resume. Once you have created your resume, you will be asked to enter in a password. After you have done so, you will then be able to log in to your account.
Q: How do I apply for a job?
A: You need to create a resume in order to apply for any jobs online. Click here to create a resume. Click here to start viewing jobs.
Q: How do I include a photo?
A: After logging in, click on “Edit this Resume.” Scroll down to the bottom of
the page until you see “Your Photo.” Click on “Browse/参照” and then select a picture from your
computer's hard drive to insert your photo.
* Photo requirements: .gif or .jpg format, up to 200 X 200 pixels, and 40k in size.
Q: I would like to contact an employer advertising currently on GaijinPot. Can I have the company's contact information?
A: We cannot provide our employers' direct contact information. If you would like to contact an employer, please send your resume through GaijinPot.
If you have clicked the “Let Employers Find Me (Search Status)” check box, employers will be able to contact you by email through GaijinPot without you needing to submit your resume. Click here to access your resume, and click the "Edit Personal Profile" on the top of the page to add your resume to the resume bank.
Q: I cannot apply for a job. Why?
A: Do you meet all the criteria (Required skills)?
Check to make sure you fit the required criteria before submitting your resume.
Also, job-seekers cannot apply to the same job postition twice - meaning a job with the same job ID.
Q: Although I know I have an account, I can't login. Why?

Q: How can I change my contact details in my resume account?
A: Having logged in to your resume, you should see;

Q: How do I post, modify or delete an ad for the Classified section? Is it FREE?
A: Yes, it's FREE.

N.B. Our classifieds are intended for individuals (NOT corporations) to buy and sell things, make announcements, etc. specific to living in Japan. All ads that do not fit this criteria will be removed with or without notice.
* GaijinPot does not monitor inquiries sent in regards to your product/service. If you receive an inquiry unrelated to your ad, please disregard it. Please also be aware that scams do exist. Take extra precautions if sending your item by post prior to receipt of payment.
Q: I am worried about scams, what advice do you have?
A: Whilst the vast majority of GaijinPot.com classifieds users are completely trustworthy it is a sad fact that online scams are alive and well and are very big business. It is important to be smart and stay safe by exercising all due precaution and remembering these 8 common sense rules:
- 1. If something sounds too good to be true, it usually is!
- 2. Don't trust anyone whose name, location, e-mail address etc. keeps changing.
- 3. Deal locally with people you can meet in person and you'll avoid just about all scams possible.
- 4. Be cautious with anyone who asks you to pay through a non-traceable method; ask yourself and the seller why they won’t accept payment options that are traceable and convenient for you.
- 5. Be wary of any advertiser that uses an image that’s obviously from an outside source; often these images do not even match the type of item, let alone the brand, that the ad features.
- 6. Protect yourself by always keeping financial information private.
- 7. Take your time making decisions that involve parting with money.

Q: How can I upload a picture for my advertisement?
A: Please upload a picture from your hard-drive by clicking on the 参照 next to Photo Option when making an ad.
The dimensions for a picture are – 600 x 600 pixels, file size 40k and either .gif or .jpg formats.
Q: When will my advertisement be approved?
A: It usually takes around one working day before your advertisement is posted in the classifieds section. Advertisements that do not conform to published site rules will not be posted in the classifieds.
Q: Why has my advertisement not been approved?
A: The classified section is for non-commercial advertisements.
If you are interested in posting a commercial advertisement we would be more than happy to pass your details on to one of our account managers.
Q: I am being sent spam mail in response to my advertisement, can you stop it?
A: Please forward the messages you have received to abuse@gplusmedia.com and we will take immediate action to prevent the individual responsible from continuing to send spam through our system.
Q: I believe that an advertisement is fraudulent, please remove it?
A: We can assure you that our system is working properly and all messages have been getting through to their intended recipients via our online system - unfortunately we cannot comment on any reasons why users/advertisers have not replied to you as such areas are out of our hands.
Q: I have received no response to my inquiries, is your system broken?

Q: I have received no reply from an advertiser I had contacted, can you contact them on my behalf?
A: Unfortunately we are not able to contact any advertisers on your behalf.

A: Please click 'Forgot Password' and enter the email you used to sign up with GaijinPot Classifieds. An email allowing you to reset your password will be sent to your email address.

Q: How do I start a thread?
A: Once logged into the forumsection, please click on the 'Thread Tool' button towards the top right of the page and select 'Post a New Thread' from the drop down menu and you will now be able to start a thread.
Q: How do I post in the forums?
A: Having logged in please and selected the forum you wish to post in, open to the thread you wish to post in and click on the 'reply' button after the last post in that thread.

No Rudeness
While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, bashing, racism, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts.
Respect
- Respect privacy: Do not reveal the identity of other users or cite emails from other people
- Respect copyrights: Do not paste long texts from other websites. Provide a link to the page you are citing
- Respect our advertisers: Our advertisers and employers make this forum possible. It is understood that we will not allow any bad mouthing.
- Respect the Admins: Moderation is not a topic open to discussion.
No Revenge
- We are not a tool of revenge, we are a tool of getting new opportunities.
- Venting about previous employers is not allowed. We do not allow direct attacks on companies or individuals in those companies.
- If you are banned move on. There are many other forums where you can try your thing.
No Harassment
Harassment of other users leads to banning. Threatening, stalking, abusive behavior of any kind will lead to the direct termination of your membership.
No Bullshit
- Refrain from posting meaningless threads, one word (or short) non-sense posts, or the such.
- Do not hijack threads. Stay in the topic area of a post.
No Multiple Threads
- Multiple or repeated posting in order to increase your post count or getting more attention is not allowed.
- Use the search before you post. Don't start new threads on a question that has been asked a thousand times already
No Spam
- Advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed.
- This includes using the forum email and private message system to spam other members.
No Porn
- We do not allow posts that are explicitly pornographic or violate GaijinPot Japan forums community standards.
- The GaijinPot team is the sole arbitrator of what does violate community standards.
Inciting Illegal Behavior
Discussion of illegal activities such as software and music piracy and other intellectual property violations are not allowed.
One Login only
- Each member is allowed one login account.
- Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed.
Competitor Policy
- We are quite happy to have constructive comparative conversations about competitors, but we will not tolerate blatant adverts or links pointing out to competitors.
- Refrain from blatant bashing of other boards.
- You cannot post any affiliate or referral links, or post anything asking for a referral. Such posts will be subject to removal.
Rights
- We remove offensive posts without notice.
- We ban anyone who violates the forum rules.
- These rules cover most common situations, they can not anticipate all situations, they will be refined over time.
- We will take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure GaijinPot Japan forums are not disrupted or abused.
Advertising Services
We do not allow people to post threads or to send private messages or emails to users that advertise or solicit any products or services. Explicit advertising is also prohibited.

- If you cross the line, as we determine, you will get banned - and the moderator's decision will be final

6. Miscellaneous
Q: I need a visa. Will GaijinPot sponsor me?
A: Our services do not extend to obtaining certificates or visas. There are, however, companies that can help. To learn more about visas, visit the Visa section or the Forums section on GaijinPot.
Q: Can GaijinPot introduce jobs that are suitable for my experiences?
A: GaijinPot is not a recruiter or outsourcing company. We mainly specialize in providing Japan Job information to job-seekers around the globe.
Q: Do I need a college/university degree to work in Japan?
A: As a rule of thumb, yes. Foreigners are not able to work in Japan without a Visa, one of the criteria for getting a visa is to be a University Graduate.
Whilst a Working-Holiday Visa will allow you to work in Japan without a Degree from a University, the length of time you would be able to work is limited and the availability of Working-Holiday Visas is dependant on your Nationality.
A Spousal Visa will also allow you to work in Japan, however many employers mindful of the need to secure Visas for their staff limit their hiring to only those candidates who have graduated from University.
